‘Setayesh’ director goes historic

Saeed Soltani, director of the hit Iranian series ‘Setayesh’, has embarked on a new historical series.

According to producer Arman Zarrinkoob, the filming of ‘Setayesh 3’ is now complete and the producer along with director Saeed Soltani have begun the pre-production phase for a new 30-part historical series titled ‘Mehrbanou’.

The ‘Setayesh’ producer described the new historical series ‘Mehrbanou’ as a melodrama set in the first Pahlavi era.

Zarrinkoob indicated that although the crew of the new series has not picked a cast yet, they plan on utilizing talented and experienced stars for the role.

On the production of ‘Mehrbanou’, director Saeed Soltani said: “The screenplay for ‘Mehrbanou’ is currently being written and we are awaiting the completion of the story and the narrative. I believe the film has a fresh and unique story, and the historical context in which it is narrated, will be enjoyable for the audience.”

A former teacher, Saeed Soltani began his directing career with short films, eventually moving on to writing and directing TV series.

Among his series are ‘After the Rain’, ‘Setayesh’, ‘Shokraneh’, and ‘Edge of Darkness’ which are a few of his hits that have appeared on ifilm.
